What is Scuba diving : Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving using a scuba
apparatus. The term scuba is derived from SCUBA i.e. Self Contained
Underwater Breathing Apparatus.
Under the water
Scuba diving has significant risks involved with it and therefore requires
absolute guidance from trained and recognised diving trainers. Responsible
associations like PADI and NAUI recommend a complete training and certification
before diving in open water, which sometimes does not happen on 'Package' scuba
Internationally the two most recognized and respected certifying scuba
associations are PADI (Professional
Association of Diving Instructors) and NAUI
(United states based - National Association of Underwater Instructors).
SSI (Scuba Schools International) is
another organization having quality reputation. These scuba diving organisations define and maintain quality/safety benchmarks
for the scuba diving and their certification courses are required to be allowed
to do scuba internationally (including Andamans)
